1) My newer PS2 is a slim model with a number SCPH-75001. I've checked some of the sites for fliptops / Swap Magic and I haven't seen that number listed. Only up to 70000. Will mine work with the current version flip top/swap magic?
2) I just want to make sure I understand what I need to get (I read about the software / media and have that, but for my PS2). I still need to get the flip top, correct? Or do I just need the Swap Magic CD/DVD? I assume if I need the flip top, I simply replace it with my current top?
3) I am interested in the mod chip since there is nothing more to worry about and I read about the DVD 9 discs that it will work with. However, I am not willing to try and solder my PS2. Reading these forums, I found the Team Modders website that sell and install mod chips. But I was curious if or how to find someone local to me. I know they don't sell or advertise the stuff at the local EB's, but is it worth asking a clerk there if they know anyone that could mod my PS2? I'm hesitant on sending it out, and if I did, it would be to someone like Team Modders, but what is the turnaround?
Thanks, that site did help and answered alot of basic questions.
Does the 70000 model include the 75001 that I have or will there be a new update for 75000 models?
Also, I just want to be clear. Since I have the latest PS2. If I get Magic Swap with the flip top cover, do I still need a "magic switch" or other tools? Or is it fine just to have the switch top cover along with the disc?
lol McPhenius im having hte exact same problem as you.. i wanna get swapmagic but my ps2 is 75001.. so im still resaerching on it.. but wat ive researched so far to get this working u need
1) swapmagic (the dvd/cd)
2) Fliptop (which voids ur warranty)
OR Magicswitch (does not void ur warranty)
OR SLIMTOOLS (does not void ur warranty)
the swapmagic helps you boot up ur games but hte others help you trick your ps2 in thinking that your not opening the tray to insert a new game...
1.If you dont want to void your warranty get Slid Tools,
2.if you get the flip top,u dont need no slip tools or switch, just swap magic disc's
3.make sure ur ps2 flip top in compatible, some sites will ask you if ur ps2 has 8 or 10 screws on the bottom,
4.10 screw ps2's as i remember are 1000 to 5000 models i think
5.8 screws are for Version 6000 to 9000,i have a V9 which is 9000
hope this helps!
