A friend of mine has just built me this computer. Crackling started with brand new burner. Have put another one in, but it still does it. PLays fine straight off the computer. The current burner is an LG. Has 52x32x52x on the front if that helps. i am an amature when it comes to these things.
Have tried burning from Windows media player and Nero. Same thing both programs

Well in that case its going to be rather difficult to give you any help at all im afraid.

Have you tried the cds in other stereos?

Do you always use the same brand of CD

Are the mp3s you use on the cds play at atleast 128KBps

i have tried different stereos, and checked that surrounding appliances have not been interferring, when burning the CDs.

have used 3 brands. all same result.

we have copied the music from original CDs, onto the computer, then onto the new CD

any ideas at all?
will try anything to fix it

hmmmm a tricky one.

Did you say the problem only started AFTER you put in the new burner because if thats the case you should just try another burner

but both the burners were used from the same computer?

Do the CDs crackle when you play them through the PC?

was the old drive the same as the new one?

Well im reckoning it may well be a problem with the computer (but nothing major if im right) I think you should try replacing the IDE cable that connects your burner 2 your motherboard as if this cable is in anyway damaged it could result in that crackling u keep getting.

im not 100% sure that this is the answer but id certainly give it a try

hope it helps
