i have noticed while reading through some of the posts here that some people seem to think that DDR2 and Dual Channel DDR is the same thing.

Well its not

Dual channel memory on AMD platforms is just normal DDR running as a pair you dont need to buy specific dual channel memory modules to have dual channel (although matched pairs will perform better) any 2 DDR sticks of the same size and bus speed can be run in dual channel.
DDR2 wont work on an AMD mobo whether it supports Dual Channel or not

DDR2 memory has higher bus speeds than DDR and while it can be run in dual channel this does not mean that they are one and the same

Dual channel is simply the way in which the memory is used

At the moment DDR2 is only available in Macs and on Intel based PCs but AMD are revising there 64 Bit Processors to work with DDR 2 from early 2006

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
