Hello all...I know I've already spoke about this on a few existing threads but those have kinda fizzled out and I wanted to push this through one last time with all the updated info. Problem started when watching my burned copy of Polar Express. I noticed that about 5 times throughout the movie the video would pause while the audio kept constant..then the video would speed up to catch up to the audio. The frustrating part is that I could shuttle backwards and replay the same part and if I did it 10 times it would play perfectly 8 of those. But the first time over that part would always do the pause thing. I have backed-up 100s of movies over the last few years and have only noticed this behavior on a handful. I tried different media, (used Sony MIJ and Fuji MIJ), burned at a slower speed (4x to 1x), used different software (CloneDVD/AnyDVD from DVDXCopy/AnyDVD)...nothing did the trick. All in all I burned it about 8 times on three different media (last one used was a Fuji MIT - purchased by mistake). Finally, I bought a new Sony DVD player (the existing ones were Toshiba and Panasonic) and now it plays perfectly....on the Fuji MIT of all things). Even though it is fine now, I have a hard time it was the DVD player's fault in the first place. If that was the case, why have all our other movies played fine? Also, why does it only do it at the same points on the disc each time? If it's the media I'm using, why did it do it on all brands and again..at the exact same spot? It seems like a complete fluke...but one that is consistently inconsistent. Does anyone have any more advice as to what the ultimate culprit was? Thanks so much!
