In VirtualDub when I open this .avi movie to save the wav file for it I get that nasty,

I know this is a common error, and I took a tip that I found in the forum saying to just open it anyway, and in Audio, under Interleaving type in an appropriate value for Audio Skew Correction, then save the new .AVI. I did that, then reopened VirtualDub, opening the new .AVI and everything is fine, no warning, and I can create the WAV file. However when I go to convert the movie using TMPGEnc (version 2.510.49.157), I keep getting

As a result I can't even convert the movie.

Obviously that original tip didn't work, so how do I go about
