ok here is what happend my vaio often goes into the si fits and the damn thing just keeps freezing and then it will go but that isnt the prob today my daughter was on my pc and when i wanted on it my pc was having one of its fits so i rebooted this usually solves everything but upon restart it would get to the xp login screen and then there was a nice display of colors and then nothingness so i thought my vid card took a dump on me so i tried to reboot with the button and same thing happened so i thought maybee heat so i took my vid card out and cleaned off all the dust but instaed of hooking everything back up i decided to hook its up to my laptop and see what i get but it worked on my laptop but the screen rez was horrible so i went to up it this is when i found out that my moniter worked fine as long as the rez was below like 800x600 or some horsecrap like that so any ideas

If its still under warranty give sony a call and tell them about the problem. they may replace the monitor for you if they cant fix it over the phone
