I live in Australia but have bought the VIP package which gives me the controler, PDZ, Limited edition face plate, VIP card and dvd now as a means of Microsoft softening the blow for us poor Australians that have to wait until the 2nd of March.
Anyway I have held and felt the controler and have found it the best controler I have ever placed my hands on. I love the fact that it ooze's quality with the good design, good plastic material and I love the fact Microsoft didnt budget the 360 navigation button. I thought it was going to be spray painted silver with a painted black X but its chrome plated with a transparant green plastic X which has green light passing through it. The only problem I have with it are the shoulder buttons. Although they are better than the black and white buttons on the origional Xbox I found them a bit akward to get too comfortably with my index fingers. This isnt a problem as they are not primary buttons and will only be used for weapon changing of the light in Halo 3.
Just wanted to ask those who are lucky enough to have a 360 what the controler is like with playing games. Also would like to know peoples opinion on the controler.

I got my Xbox 360 on launch day because I preoredered mine back just before august
I really like the controller too and I dont mind the shoulder buttons either because you hardly have to use them and when you do it is easy to reach them
Big Thanks To Jamaal10!

PDz is no where near as addicting as other games... I almost feel as if i wasted 50 dollars on it... I had a much more fun time playing king kong or need for speed!

It is actually very comfortable! I really like the controller. I reccommend the wireless one though because it gives you even more freedom. The headset still works well with the wireless controller up to about 30 feet away even through walls. But, the guide button comes in very handy except for xbox 1 games all you can do is see the time and shut down the console with the guide button. Otherwise if you could play with an xbox 1 controller than this one is even better. It is a softer design and the shoulder buttons are very easy to reach. Like in pdz, the left shoulder button is to roll than the thumbstick picks a direction. It is a very easy reach...

I find the controller to be the best out yet, great grip, no wires. The triggers are regulated too, the way scalextric ones are. Found it extremely useful for PGR3 as you can feel the intensity of breaks and gas entry. For Shoot em up's, it might be some bother. Anyway, cant wait to get a ps3 & compare. MS has hinted that they might save the release of HALO3 until ps3 comes out. BASTARDS!!
Anyway, I believe all the games out yet come on regular DVD's, which means we haven't even glimpsed how enormous games can be (HD DVD's can store ten times as much data, and Sony's Blu-Ray even more).
They haven't stretched the system yet, and the leap will be greater than between GTA3 and GTA: San Andreas on ps2.
GET TO WORK, BOYS!!!!!

i dislike the controller
especially the wireless one because microsoft rigged the controllers to have short battery life unless you purchase the rechargable battery pack for the controller due to head set use and long time ue it sucks mine has been eating batterys once every two days this is insane

I can see your point on the controler. I dont know if Microsoft done it on purpose but 1 thing I do know is that controlers with force feedback on and a head set pluged in will use alot of power. Microsoft said that on full power with a head set you will be looking at 30 hours. Therefore if you want to use a wirless controler then it makes more sense to buy a rechargable battery with the trickle charge wire for a small price rather than buying batteries all the time. The other alternative is to buy the wired controler.
It will be interesting to see how long the PS3's wirless controler will last with batteries.

I've been using the batteries provided in my wireless controllers since Dec 20th, and they've not died yet, and that's about 4 hours of play a day. i like the button set up and everything. w/ no headset plugged in but forcefeedback on.

I dont really like the new controler, feels to much like a playstation controler in my hands, one of the big reasons for me not geting a ps2 was I coudlnt stand the controler but the one for the xbox fit just right.

It is basically the same controller, just the shape around the grip and handles is a little slimmer, and about the batteries... Microsoft doesn't need to rip people off to make money trust me! Just buy a charge and play... It is only 20 dollars, if you are too scanty to make a one time 20 dollar payment, than so be it...

People have thier own opinions when it comes the controler, but please stop saying its the same as the origional despite a minor change. Are you really that synical?
First the actual shape has been changed significantly. Secondly its smaller. Third its white. Fourth the black and white buttons have been exchanged for two shoulder buttons. Fith it has a big chrome plated x navigation button in the middle. Sith it has a ring of light to to display what controler is what plus other things like a health guage. Seventh its wireless. Eighth it has no memory card slots. Nineth it has a socket in the bottem for any headset and Tenth, it has small alterations to the D-pad and buttons making them more comfortable to use (the face buttons are slightly more flat and spaced out, the analog joysticks have more resistance as well as the triggers).
We all have our own oppinions but just because the Nintendo's controler is a radical design doesnt mean that the 360's controler is nealry the same as the origional.
Also what about when Sony released the PS2 with the same controler? You may argue that it was becuase it is a good controler. If that is the case then why have they changed the design?
The PS3's controler looks like it can be very comfortable but there have been less changes made to the PS3 controler than there have to the 360. The only thing that has changed on the PS3 controler is the shape. But we still have to wait until January to find out the final design.
Oh yes there is an eleventh change to the 360 controler which is the more convient placement of the Start and select buttons. Wait, there is also a twelth difference, you will know that the quality of plasic has been changed and it feels alot better with grip aswell, you will notice the nice hard shiny white plastic on the topside of the controler and the nice silver plastic on the bottom side. So there you are 12 changes that have been made on the 360 contorler. Whether you like them or not there has been a significant change to this controler for no one to suggest that its similar to the origional.

I personally like the first xbox controller better. I may just not be used to them, but I don't really care for the extra shoulder buttons. I think they should have kept the original black and white buttons + the shoulder buttons. The more buttons the better in my opinion. Also the controller button's aren't analog anymore. All the controller buttons in the XBOX 1 could operate as analog buttons. MS probably took away the analog buttons so the controller is cheaper to produce.

I have had the same batteries in my Xbox360 since November 22nd on launch Day and I havent replaced them yet and they still work fine. Maybe it is the batteries you guys bought.

Ok so Microsoft havent changed the shape much according to you. Is this a bad thing? I think not going by the majority and game site reviews. The controler has been sculpted to fit perfectly in the hands just like the PS3 controler will hopefully do.
