Hello everyone. I just backed up my first copy of one of my games (Pac-Man World 2) using DVD Decrypter.

DVD Decrypter indicated that the backup was sucessful. The game loads with no problem.

However, at times (not all the time) when you are playing the game messes up. The screen appears as a blur although you can still hear the music from the game.

I do not know what patching or rebuilding. I do not know if patching or rebuilding will fix this problem. Or if patching and rebuilding is only a solution for games that cannot be backed up susessfully using a regular method as DVD Decrypter or other programs of the same kind.

Thanks you for any help that anybody can give some that does know about this process.

What do you use to boot the backup with? what media, max speed and type etc.. eg verbatim 8x DVD-R? what speed did you burn at?

My guess is that it's just a media issue.. go buy some good media like the ones in my sig, or even maxell, tdk, sony on DVD-R. Then before you burn (if you're not already doing it) turn off all the programs that are running that aren't needed for the burning process, including internet, virus scanner etc..adn don't use the computer while it's trying to burn.

Let me know how you get on with that and if you need any more help, i'll see what I can come up with... give as much info as you can about a problem and it'll be easier to come up with a solution ok?

good luck :)

Thank you. I was using Prodisc which has the same specs a Verbatim. But I was doing it making my back ups at max speed with the Pioneer A06. And as you indicated I turned all other programs off. I changed that to 1x speed and now my backups are great. Thanks once again.

Hey, glad it worked for you... :)

You don't need to burn that slow to get a good backup though, burn at about half of the discs max speed.. eg, 4x on 8x media (I wouln't recommend burning faster than say 6x though)
I have sometimes burned upto 8x on 8x discs and have still had really good results, but depends on what burner you have, discs you use and PC equipment.. by all means experiment with what you can do with what equipment you have though, that's how you learn the limitations :)

good luck with the rest of your burns
