I just wanted to know if u can play a game while charging the battery - cuz when i have it plugged in , and turn my psp on with an UMD in it - it seems like it doesnt start up - where as if u turn it on, and then plug it in, it works just fine, with the game [playing aswell... why ?

As far as I know you should be able to play and charge at the same time. Granted it will take longer to charge that way. But, I can't think of any reasion why you couldn't do it that way. Heck I do it from time to time myself!

YOU CAN. If you couldn't, what world are we in? have to run on batteries? think of the laptops, pdas, all having to run on batteries!

Definitely can. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to:
1. upgrade/downgrade: needs AC in except for 2.01+, cunning $0ny wants us to accidentally upgrade, and they don't care if our battery runs dead and we brick it.
2. Use PSPSet or any other program that flashes the BIOS.

Imagine everything running on AA batteries!
EDIT: In CHina, you can buy a PSP Imitation that runs on 4 AA Batteries, comes with headphones that are worse than the 1st gen ipod, non-working []XOA pad and what they call a "colour screen". *cough*worsethangameboycolour*cough* oh yea, the sound is bloody annoying. AND it costs aroung $10.
