Hiya,

I have been happily using Nero to back up my files and DVDs for ages until recently it just refuses to play ball.

For the past few months it appears to back up my files and you can explore the discs but as soon as you try opening a file it crashes Windows - regardless of what PC I try the discs in (Have tried them in my laptop + in friend's machines).

It also stopped backing up my DVDs but I don't recall how this manifested itself.

I don't recall adding any new hardware or software to the PC at the time it started playing up.

One by one I have tried to eliminate the possible sources of the problem:-

1) I updated the software
2) I re-installed the software
3) I tried working off a USB 2.0 external DVD writer
4) I installed a whole new hard drive!

None of this has made any difference at all.

However... It will copy and back-up to CDs with no problem...

I have a 2.5 year old Tiny PC (2.09GHz AMD Athlon processor, 1GB RAM, 160 & 300GB HDDs, 128MB GeForce 5200 graphics card, Sony DRU-510A DVD+/-RW + Windows XP Home SP1, Nero 6 Reloaded & DVD Shrink 3.2).

Anyone have any ideas what is causing this and how I get around it? If not I shall have to buy a new PC just to get around it, which will be really annoying!
