Hi, I'm new and not even a PSP user (the thing is my son's..) He somehow managed to upgrade to 2.0 and now he wants me to downgrade because obviously nothing works anymore. If have spent the last 5 hours reading forum threads, but my specific problem I have not encountered yet, I have followed all the instructions to the letter, created all the folders and copied all the files. PROBLEM: although i copied the .tif file, on the memory stick it says: There are no images (the file IS there if I check through USB). Now the only thing I can think of is that I formatted the memory stick before I started and by doing that I have corrupted something. And if so, do I need to upgrade/restore the 2.0 firmware version? I am clueless and hope that there is someone out there that can help. Thanks!

Things are getting worse. The demo disk does not seem to be recognized anymore now...I will go to bed and hopefully tomorrow one of your clever people will have sent me the solution to all my (son's) problems...

What directory on the memory stick did you copy the .tif file into? It should be in the PSP/PHOTO folder. If it is not in that folder, then you will not see it under the photo icon in your PSP menu. I followed the steps from psp-hacks.com and didn't have a problem downgrading. If you didn't know that site, check it out. www.psp-hacks.com

make sure you use the ONLY TRUE DOWNGRADER, the MPH Downgrader. Avoid the "PSP Team" Downgrader, as it is a bricker and is hazardous to your PSP. Also the SonyXTeam modification of the MPH Downgrader is also safe.

I was told to change my sig so I did this.

Thanks for trying to help! Yes, the .tif file in is in the psp/photo folder (i even copied a photo there and it shows, no problem), it's just the tif file. And I have tried 3 different dowgraders, one of which directly from the mph site.

Reading through more forum threads I think the not recognizing the .tif file means that it is not firmware 2.0 but 1.5. Would that mean the 2.0 is corrupted and if so, can I run the 2.0 upgrade again to restore and then downgrade to 1.5?

I figured it out and will just post this in case something similar happens to anyone else....
My system settings showed version 2.0, but the .tif file was not read, why I will never know I guess. I downloaded WAB version changer 2.0 and tricked the psp back to 1.0. I could then upgrade to 1.5 and that´s what I did. My system settings show 1.5 and everything is back in working order!

Check the System Settings on your PSP?, to find out which Firmware Version your currently running. If it turns out, that you're lower then v2.0 (i.e. 1.51\2), you'll need to first update to v2.0. If on the off chance you should have v1.50 installed then you can forget all about it! if you should have a Firmware higher then v2.0 (i.e. v2.01, v2.50 or v2.60), you can hang it up! Or get GTA, and wait for the Homebrew Hack!

Irregardless of the Downgrader you opt for, I would personaly take the advice to stay clear of anything that didn't come from MPH myself! You should know that you should temporaly close down any or all Antivirus Scaners, that you might have running in the Background. As they can and will falsely band the 'overflow.tif' as a Virus \ Trojan...
