All the version changer does is trick the PSP into thinking it is version 2.0+, however it does not trick most of the games that require version 2.0+. It cannot run v2.0 UMDs because v1.5 does not have the same system files that are needed.

Yes, you can play the games again. All you have to do is update back to v2.0. Set your version back to 1.5 with the version changer and upgrade with the update on your GTA disk.
You can always downgrade back to v1.5, as long as you don't upgrade to anything higher than v2.0.

IT DEPENDS if the UMD has ENCRYPTION.
The only games with encryption are GTA, SOCOM and HUSTLE. They require 2.00.
The games that require 1.52 or 2.00 that DON'T have encryption (eg Coded Arms needs 1.52) we can just play with the FW Changer/Faker to make the PSP think it's a 2.01.
the "changer" is a FAKER. It MAKES THE PSP THINK IT'S a 2.01 instead of 1 1.50 but it's really a 1.50! So GTA won't work.
But battlefront works i've tried it.
I was told to change my sig so I did this.

There is a way to decript the Hustle files so they will work on v1.5, but but that is the only one that will decript. Ya I heard of being able to run Battlefront with the UMD Emulator, but I haven't tried it before.

Taken from ps2nfo.com
Quote: The Hustle: Detroit Streets, Harvest Moon Portable (JAP), and Pro Evolution Soccer 5 are now reported to be working with v1.50 Firmware PSP handhelds using the new PSP 2.X PRX & EBOOT File Decryptor v0.1 for those interested. If anyone discovers any other PSP games (GTA: LCS, Vulcanus: S&D (KOR), SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo, and Crash Team Racing don't yet) that will now work using it, feel free to post them in our PSP Chat Forum. For those wondering exactly how it's accomplished, here is an example using PES 5:
* Extract the PES5 iSO image with WinRAR to a directory on your PC
* Go to this directory, and remove the SYSDIR/UPDATE folder
* Go to USRDIR and remove all the languages you dont want (keep e_text.afs for English, deleted the others)
* Copy the SYSDIR/EBOOT.BIN to your PSP, in a folder called "Enc" at the Root
* Copy the 2 folders decrypt and decrypt% (from HERE) into your PSP/GAME folder
* Run the Decryptor v0.1 from the PSP (obviously, you have to be in 1.5 for that)
* This produces an EBOOT.BIN file in a new folder called "Dec"
* Rename this file into BOOT.BIN, and overwrite the original BOOT.BIN in SYSDIR with it
* Overwrite all the PRX files in the USRDIR folder with the ones from another game that uses 1.5 libraries (for example, Winning Eleven 9: Ubiquitous Evolution JAP)
* Launch UMDGen or VCDROMx, rebuild the iSO, and then copy it to your Memory Stick
* Run UMD Emulator in Copy Load mode (with 'use BOOT.BIN' turned ON) and enjoy!

No, you will not lose the ability to play emulators or use the version changer. However after upgrading to v2.0 you will lose the ability to use some emulators, but there is a version changer that was released for v2.0.

Wait im sorta confused here. Im going to start from the Beginning. Today i baught SOCOM. I put in the UMD. It loaded to the PSP interface. Then it fades and goes to the error screen. The error screen says "The game could not start (FFFFFED3). So after that i was like oh maby there isnt enough memory. So i decided to go FORMAT the memory stick. So i formatted, From there it still did not work. And im not to sure if my PSP is 1.50 or 2.00 anymore. I went to the Upgrade to 2.00 and it says its already on 2.00. But.. i still get the error "FFFFFED3" What do i do?

It sounds like you have a version changer that makes it think it is version 2.x. So if you do, just run the version changer and put it back to version 1.5 and run the update that comes with SOCOM.

but if you wanna play homebrew you gotta keep on 1.5 for now. its not good to upgrade/downgrade often.

Well, that is debatable. I have read people who said there is nothing wrong with upgrading/downgrading multiple times.
Also 2.0 can run a decent amount of homebrew.
