Hello,
I have this BIG problem! I started to backup my DVD Video using Pioneer A04 and Princo DVD-R media.
At the beginnig I had no problems. After decrypted the DVD's in my HD, I burned them correctly with the A04 using Nero or Prassi PrimoDVD. (I made every kind of copy: DVD9 splitted in 2 DVD5 using IFOEdit and DVD9 in 1 DVD5 using DVD2One).
I was able to play my burned DVD into various DVD-ROM and some Home DVD and also in my Xbox console (with another DVD Drive installed :-)

Now, after about 1/2 months all the DVD's I burned doesn't work with any kind of DVD Drive. The same DVD's that first worked correctly now doesn't work at all. I experience stops during playing etc..
The only drive where I'm able to read them correctly is the Pioneer A04 where I burned them!

What could be the problem ? Maybe the Princo DVD-R that after being readed a couple of times, broke ?

I can assure you that all the 30 DVD's I burned that worked correctly now don't work at all.

Thanks for any advice.

Well if they play perfectly in the drive that burnt them and break up on anything else that is the classic sign of bad media (and Princo stink IMHO) maybe they just degenerated over time? (allbeit a very short time)

But is it possible that a DVD-R degenerates after being read a number of times and continues to work good on the drive that burned it ?

Thanks for the advices

The drive that burned it will always play it (unless it is physically damaged) You'll probably find it would still play in some less fussy standalones as well.

Anyway I recommend something better for future burns

BTW it is possible that the lens in your standalone is dusty and needs a clean.

Maybe could it be that lens needed a clean but I couldn't be that the burned DVDs work perfectly in about 10 different kind of DVD Player for 1/2 months and the same burned DVDs now don't work in the sampe DVD Players.... :-(

I think I'll burn all my DVD-Rs and my DVD burner into a BIG flame of fire :-(

Thanks for the advice.
