i was able to burn my cd pretty flawlessly with nero (burning rom 6.6.0.15), but it did not burn the cd-text.
when i insert the burned cd into my drive, it shows up as unknown and displays generic numeric track listings. :(

cd-text is supported by my recorder & i did check 'disc-at-once' mode.
i filled out the comp. info & checked the individual audio tracks' info.

i am pretty confused about why it would not correctly burn the cd-text.
anyone have any ideas? information? help links?
anything would be very much appreciated.

Your log looks pretty clean, except 4 things you need to do.
Quote:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.15
Nero is a few versions behind, update to the latest 6.6.0.18 (remember to install package #1 & package #2 only)
Quote:
Recorder: <_NEC DVD+-RW ND-3530A> Version: 103C
Go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2110 and download the latest firmware 104C to update your burner's firmware. It'll increase the burning performances and media compatibility.
Quote:
Physical memory : 510MB (522332kB)
Free physical memory: 52MB (53280kB)
Memory in use : 89 %
You're in a tough situation here, with 510MB is ok, but you need to FREE UP more memory as many as possible. That'll help to boost up your CPU and or burning's progress.

This is horrible, you need to dump that InCD programs. It won't do any good, except causing Nero to fail when burning -- InCD and Roxio is commonly known to likely conflicts with Nero, therefore you're making "coasters" half/most of the times. Go here http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html and get "InCD General Clean Tool" to run and completely wipe out InCD from your system.

I asked this same question a couple weeks ago and you can't create an audio cd and have the track listing come up. It has be created as a MP3 cd. I did test this and it does work.

From the look of it - it does not appear to be a store bought disc. It looks like wma/mp3 files - so this is NOT a copy of a copy. Read carefully next time before you start lipping.

Hey - I didn't say I know everything. The only thing I said that it couldn't be done by making an audio cd. I have made 100s of custom audio cds of mp3 files and the track list never shows up. I suggested to the poster the way I knew they would show up.

There was no reason for you to use "bs" in your post. I don't know it all and I'm always open to learning so if you wanna correct someone there's a polite way to do it. At least I did try to help him/her but you posted a reply back to me not offering him/her any assistance. So you can either tell us how to do it or don't reply at all.

it sometimes has to do with the software you are using to burn and the burner itself..

Okay put it this way. Im not sure whats different from mine to yours i.e burner of software, but this is what I do.

As far as store bought goes I use slysoft clone cd and make sure to select audio cd. It will leave the text on the music and break the encrytption so you will actually not have the extra content and invisible files in explorer. But it will leave behind the cd text so when ya punch up media player it will list album cover and song titles.

Now if you use windows media player to make a 1-1 copy it will leave cd text, but also wont remove copy protection. So ya copy will have cd text, but will be invisible in explorer and will have the extra shit. Now I go for the latter cause clone is real good espicially with damaged discs and burning. I actually have a side buisness repairing damged music cds for 5.00 a piece us and I use clone and my litey burner for reading and writing exclusively. And I always got titles in media player with copy.

Now for mps and wma....it all depends on what program was used to rip them. If use windows media play to encode from disc then the cd text is gone, but if you use eac and encode to mp3 the cd text is usually still there. Then just punch up Nero express, click make audio cd, jam ya mp3s in there, and burn. Now this is not making a mp3 disc, but an actual audio cd. Then the cd text should remain and you should be able to view it in media player song titles and such. But its like the last guy said. Its all dependent on hardware and software. Never use windows media player for ripping, encoding, or copying. Its crap. Eac is great and so is clone. I can prove it right now. I have mp3 I downloaded of of frost to make the complete system od a down mesmerize and megedeth the system has fail. I put the mp3s in order and burned with Nero making a audio cd. Text has remained and can be viewed with media player or any other software player.

Nowe the only thing Im not aware of mostly cause I dont have a car radio that displays song title.....is if it would display song title on the car radio, but it displays on the comp no prob.:>

@Ozzy

Ok - that's a nice post and I think I understand but I have a couple of questions. 1) What's EAC? 2) Are you referring to mp3 you've ripped from CDs? I guess my thinking was the track listing would appear even if you downloaded mp3s from places like Limewire, rhapsody, and i-tunes. I'm using Nero v6.6.0.18. I used Nero InfoTool and it says my drive does support cd text.

I'm gonna try your method and report back. Thanks.

Ok Ozzy - I created an audio cd. The cd text did not populate in WMP but it did list the cd info when I played in Real Player. I wonder if WMP supports this??? Which media player do you use?

I use foobar......and winamp. I got out of the wmp faze. As far as mp3s I was referring to ones you rip and encode and also ones that you download that were ripped right.

Eac is exact audio copy. If you look on the guides section here on afterdawn their is chris myden' quintessential guide to ripping audio cd's. Read iit and download the program. Google for another guide cause chri guide is slightly outdated and their is better guides. Eac can also beat cactus and other forms of audio protection.

Personally though wmp sucks in everything. I wish I could find a way to rid of it on my system but they got it so intertwined with everything you cant without screwing something up.

Also the track listing should pop right up in wmp whether its a mp3 you ripped, downloaded, or audio cd from the store. If iot dont then you have to wipe windows and reinstall cause wmp is screwed. Happened to me a while ago and thats why I use other media players. Plus wmp wont let ya reinstall cause it automatically says you have it when ya dont. Even if ya edit the registry to delete it.:>

hey ozzy -

i use eac to rip and i downl;oaded the m.d.c. albulms from a tracker where everyone also uses eac/lame (at least, the ones i choose to download from)- they most definitly had the text before i burned them. i updated to Nero 7 & got rid of incd - but i am now doubting that Nero is the problem...

cause yesterday, i put in a store bought cd & it came up (on my drive & on winamp) the same - unknown artist, generic/numeric track listings. i am nearly 100% positive that the text always showed up before (but it's beginning to make me feel a bit ~crazy~ so...)

do you have any idea if this is a problem with my drive, and if so - how to fix it?

newtechie...or anyone else have any ideas?

If ya put a store bough cd and it didnt show track info then try reinstalling winamp. Or try foobar.

If not maybe ya burner is starting to go. Or they may be a conflict somewhere. Try reinstalling winamp or use something else first.:>

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure you have 'CDDB' enabled in the apps you're using.
