Alright, I know I'm getting suckered, but I want to buy a new white PSP.
What I need help in is that this will be my first PSP and I'm trying to figure out all the "firmware" stuff and what I can and can't do with the PSP(ie What's homebrew?) Can anyone give me advice as to which firmware version on the Japanese PSP I should be looking for, and is there anyone out there that have these models and their experiences with them. Also has anyone had any luck breaking the region coding for the Japanese PSP's? BTW I live in the U.S. so I'll be importing umd's(probably not many)

White PSP will come with 2.0. you can downgrade from 2.0 to 1.5 if you want homebrew.
Homebrew is homemade free small games. You can get simple 2mb games, emulation (eg playing SNES, GBA, Genesis games), ISO loading (Piracy, but we like to call it "BAckups"), appz (file managers, media players, notepads). Downgrading will lose the official web browser, but you can get homebrew browsers.

PSP's have no region lock for games.
PSPs HAVE REGION LOCK FOR MOVIES.

That means Yanks can't get (cough) Hen (cough) Tie (cough) (jap pr0n which is *cough*)
and Japs can't get hardcore action rambo movies.

But they cracked that. With UMD EMulator you can rid the region lock.
