I'd just stay with 2.01. You basically have all the features you need and its more likely that 2.01 will be cracked sooner.
It's Festivus for the rest of us!

if you're on 1.5 id say not worth it but since you're on 2.01 id say upgrading to 2.5 is worth it. They're gunna crack it with the GTA exploit, so may as well. Plus you still can't get HB yet with 2.01 or 2.5 so you may as well use all the new features.
I was told to change my sig so I did this.

just a thought for the day. a 1.50 plays lots of the older games on iso. I have bought original games for other formats (after playing backups and deciding they were good enough to justify their purchase) and would have carried this theory over to the PSP. Not all games are worth the money, some merely allow a few minutes of short term gratification.
But here's the thing, if you cant play a particular game because it needs a newer firmware, a 1.50 user will most likely NEVER buy it. Especially if it denies use of other stuff. The situation is made worse by Games like burnout that run fine through the emulator, yet if you buy the game it insists on having the firmware update before it will play from the UMD.
Notwithstanding the fact that the emulator (and a large memory stick) allows you to carry more games without carrying a bag of UMD's about.
If a game that doesn't actually NEED the update is asking for it before it will play, I have to wonder how many other UMD's will insist on it before they can be used.
The firmware update situation is getting sillier by the week, especially if you have no intention of going online with a PSP. Firmware updates since UK release:-? 1.5/1.51/2.0/01/2.5/2.6? where will it end? and the only reason I can see for it is Sony's attempts to close the door on Piracy (with a few minor music file codecs added to placate the moaners) and That horse appears to be running through the fields already.
Firmware updates are, to my mind, the PSP equivalent of having a Heart operation, and I for one have no desire to update, and certainly not as many times as Sony are currently forcing upon users, no matter how good the games may be that i can't currently play on it (and consequently will not be buying for it). I may be stuck in the past until the coders get (and stay) in front of sony, but the PSP does a damned good job of keeping me entertained with films, music and games as it is. I just hope the coders have cracked whatever version of firmware is in force on the day mine turns its toes up.
Funny how anti-piracy updates can stop at least one individual from ever buying another PSP game.

First up djdrudru, you need to upgrade to 2.0, then back down to 1.5, if you want to take advantage of teh 1.5 features, ie mem stick gaming, etc.
If you use the network update it will update you to the most recent one, thus ruling out any chance of the aforementioned goodness.
To change backgrounds on a pre 2.0 you need to go here and check this out http://www.psp-hacks.com/pspersonalize-howto.php
It means you can change the bg by changing the month thru the calender, and they have the orginals thre if you want to change it back to default.
Broomie, they're gonna be getting close to 2.01, i wouldn't upgrade personally, not for wma support anyway, and i'm in oz, remote oz at that, so i have no need for that tv anywhere crap.
If you're not going to be hanging out for the hackers to break the 2.6 f/w for the next 6 months, go ahead. Depends what you want to do. That said tho, in the scheme of things, 2.01 prolly isn't all that different to 2.6(fw coding wise), but why chance it?

2.00 - Eur release, update on demo disc. hole patches, web browser, TKIP encryption. toc2rta ploit discovered for HB like eboot loader and downgrader to 1.5. Updates to BMP, TIFF, PNG, WAV, AVC
2.01 - patches.
