Socom wont run on v1.50. If you want to play, there is only one way. Buy a real UMD and update psp to v2.00

When you are done with Socom, downgrade it back to v1.50.

Same story with;

GTA:LCS
Crash Tagteam Raceing
Hustle Streets of Detriot (or something)
...and LotR Tactics

I think Persuit Forces is also a v2.0 Game too...

LoTR tactics works you just need a save file that will start you after the 3rd level.

Ok you are obviously not listening, you CANNOT play socom on a 1.5, the ONLY way is to upgrade to a 2.0 which comes on the umd.

I know he was asking about the version changer and for the last time the answer is no, socom will not work on a 1.5 no matter what you do.

just one thing the games mentioned above are only for version 2.0 right?
but version 2.0 doesnt read iso's so those games u can only play'em with the real game do u know if theres any chance of playing them throught ur mem.stick or u have to play with the real game?

2.0 games require 2.0 fw, period. There is a way to use some of them on a 1.5 definately not all tho, but last i heard you can't save to the mem stick in these games. And puruit force works on 1.5.
check this great list made by Mayhem, perhaps if a mod could sticky the link then it would cut down on people asking does this run on that!

Mr Head policeman of fuckall.

I totally agree, there are so many repeat posts on here that could be eliminated if people would spend 5 minutes and use the search button. I know everyone is new at one point but this socom topic has been covered extensively, same with ISO's and emulators and downgrading, yet everyday there are like 10 new posts on this stuff. I was new too at one point and I know people have questions when they first get their psp, but come on guys at least put some effort in and show that you are willing to try and learn. And as for Broomie I'm with you on that too, he is an idiot. But again thanks for the support in this topic pbailey.

The only thing I dont understand is why would the version changer be able to trick fw 2.0 if it wouldnt work anyways.

Actually i'm not sure if it works for the games that only ask you to update, not really using anything 2.0 specific, i have my demo disc in my psp all the time for umd emulator and since i used team emergency exit's psp set (not a bad lil proggie for changing fw and backgrounds etc) i set mine to 2.0 and now whenever i boot the psp it loads the umd demo disc, whereas before it would tell me i needed to upgrade to 2.0. So if the game isn't 2.0 codec dependant, ala GTA etc, i'm sure it might work. Infact that's all umdemulator etc do, they block the game from asking to be updated. OFcourse if you're making your own iso's you can simply rip teh upgrade out in most cases, but haven't tried. I don't own any 2.0 games, so if someone wants to try it and post back in here, please do.

I heard that GTA is the only game that actually needs the upgrade becuase it has AVC video which anything under 2.0 wont support.

You're kinda right, socom can be played on a 1.5 along with a few others, but not as they're meant to be played, ie either no saving, no multiplayer or the game crashes after 10 minutes.. It really is getting close tho, avc is almost working properly using the firmware launcher 1.3.7 on a 1.5 using 2.0 and 2.50 firmwares, so we'll see, i don't own any 2.0's yet, so haven't been able to play around with all this prx file goodness etc..
