My last thread was: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/271009#1532496

I have since updated my drive info as well as my nero packets. I tried again to burn mr. and mrs. smith from files that I saved from my hard drive a while back. I am using nero and once again have had problems.

the log is:

All of these suggestions have already been given to you by alkohol in the link that you so kindly provided.
Quote:
Physical memory : 510MB (523184kB)
Free physical memory: 100MB (102480kB)
Memory in use : 80 %
Free up some memory. Don't multitask, disconnect from the internet and turn of any/all spyware, adware, norton's, mcafee etc. Hell you might as well just reboot first to recover some ram, and then shut down all of this stuff.
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2286143 (508:01.68, 4465MB)
You are burning way too close to the edge of the disc, reset target size to 4300.

You are burning to fast, set burn speed for 4X please.

What kind of blanks are you using.

Again, alkohol gave you all of this advice at the link you provided.

Alright guys, thanks for the previous help, however, I am trying to burn movies that I have burnt before. They worked fine for me before so why the sudden problems? Here is my log for the movie that I burnt before and am now having problems with. I am using Sony media, but after trying to burn this last night I ran out and I am now burning with memorex. Both brands have worked for me before.

here is my log:

Nero isn't recognizing your burner, something is wrong here...it's usually Nero 7 that gives this error.

Burning too close to the edge of the disc, set target size to 4300 to avoid further failures towards the end of the movie.

It is not recommended to burn at more the 4X, the discs may say 8X or 16X etc., but really can't handle that much speed for accurate burns.

You are asking the burner to do something that it can't, possibly those Memorex discs you are using could cause this error. You said that you've used them before, and you may get good initial results with them, but sooner or later they will fail.

It seems that these are mostly the same answer to the same problems as in your first post in this thread, please make corrections and try again.

Quote:
CdRomPeripheral : LG DVD-ROM DRN8080B atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off

DMA is off on this drive. That was in the second burn log.
This is from nero:
Quote:
DMA settings - You may have DMA disabled for your CD-/DVD-ROM and recorder devices. You should enable this feature. If you have old drivers (even if you have the latest in some cases), DMA may not be properly supported, even though you can enable it. You should try with DMA disabled if you still have problems having enabled it.
Enable or disable DMA:
To enable DMA in Windows 2000/XP, simply go to your 'Control Panel --> Systems --> Hardware --> Device Manager'. Double click on the 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers'. Right click on the 'Primary IDE Channel', go to 'Properties --> Advanced Settings' and change ´Transfer Mode´ to 'DMA if available'. Do the same for the secondary IDE channel.
For Windows 9x and ME, go to your 'Control Panel --> System --> Device Manager --> CD-ROM' and under the devices 'Properties --> Settings' enable or disable DMA.
Also check your aspi settings with Nero info tool. You should see something like this when you check it:

and this tab shows your DMAs

If you get system aspi corrupted or not present try this to get them back:

It's rare, very rare that something gets past you in a Nero log creaky. You're still the Nero log master to me, even when you hit the spiked nog :) Well, many eyes looking at a problem is better than one eye out of focus and the other staring at the burner LED.. Not that you guys do that .. Hey all you guys have a merry Xmas! I'll be trying to kill off a few more brain cells with a liberal dose of booze, and a magical pipe :) Rudolph with your nose so bright, wont you burn everyones discs tonight?

naw, it's not the booze, it's cus i'm always rushing to catch up with the little tikes who keep misbehaving round the forums, though i'm still trying to keep up with the never ending Nero logs. i still subscribe to virtually every Nero thread each day, just don't get to answer them all as much as i used to :)

Have a Merry Xmas if i don't speak to you again, i'm off home now so will be back wreaking havoc round the forums in 2/3 hours; whether i'll treat myself to xmas day off the Net i don't know, don't want the little AD tikes thinking they can run amok
