What's the best way to rip from a DVD to a file size that'll fit onto one CD? Most of the help I've found on ripping is for VCD or produces file sizes too big for one CD anyway. Picture/sound quality is not all that important to me, I just want to fit everything on 1 CDR.

Well you could try making some poor quality SVCD (will play in your DVD player) using this guide:

Just when you're in FitCD Remember not to divide the full length of the movie by 3 (actually enter the full length) and set it to 1 x 74min CD in the CD space box. Also ignore all of the source range and batch encode stuff.
