Try patching it from PAL to NTSC.

37. Q. I downloaded a PAL game, how do I convert it to NTSC?
A. Use Adrenaline patcher if it's an EA game: http://www.megagames.com/ps2/ps2_utils_files.shtml#ADRenalin%20Patcher Note: I've been told this works for non EA games as well. The screen won't be perfectly centered, unless you have a modchip that forces video mode.
Or patch with PAL2NTSC patcher with Y fix for non EA games: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/121718

I don't know if your chip supports forcing video mode. Check the official site or Google for instructions for your chip. I don't it does offhand. What media are you using to burn your backups?
