can we stick to the topic of this forum -- high res audio?
can the mods close or move the threads unrelated to this topic?

You can't lose something that you never had. High Resolution has never been a joe sixpack goal.

"...Joe Sixpack..."
Hahahaha, I like that... Why is that? I think its because they didn't know about it. mostlikely the idea of new technology makes them uneasy since there is already something around that does just fine.

diabolos, they don't care about hi-res, these are people that are happy with mp3. Same dumbasses that buy Bose I guess. I laughed my ass off when I saw the 'hi-fi' looking speakers for the iPod. I mean, talk about putting the cart in front of the horse.

As of now all threads from the last year that don't relate to high resolution audio are gone. If you see more posts that don't belong in the future feel free to use the Report Offensive Post button to have them moved.

Sometimes we cannot always blame the end users.
I remember when I bought my first DVD-A player, way back when last century, and was told - by the salesman in the shop - that I didn't need DVD-Audio, as the machine in front of me had Dolby Digital which is far better.
He wondered why I laughed!
What chance did things have with attitudes like this?

Wilkes, with the "eminent" arrival of BR and HD-DVD, you think High Rez Audio with transition to those media or just die? I mean there is HD DD and HD DTS, but still...

DVD-A is far from a dead duck as Sony would have us believe.
BRD and HD DVD will, I suspect, be as popular as pork at a Bar-Mitzvah.
0.1mm technology on BRD? A freakin fingerprint will throw the focussing off.
And I don't see anyone rushing to buy the new:
Players
Amps
Displays etc it is going to require.
BRD & HD DVD will be utterly incompatible and there will be no universal players either.
Look how Sony said that PSP will "obsolete all other consoles" as it will be capable of movie playback etc. Did it happen?
MiniDisc. Laserdisc. Betamax. All failed.
How many DVD18 have you ever seen? So we don't need the space on the discs either, then.
Master for DVD in HD, and drop the resolution at the last minute for MPEG-2 encoding, and that is still just fine.
DVD ain't going anywhere for years to come.
DVD-A gets more & more affordable, with Cirlinca putting out DVD-Audio Solo for $35, it will be the hobbyists who decide when it's over - and I don't see it happening.
And there are more non High Rez posts in here again too, Vurbal!

Thanks for the heads up. Real life has kept me busy for the last couple of months but I'm back now. I'll work on cleaning things up again.

I know what you mean about real life getting in the way!
We're up to our necks in a rather large DVD-V job here.
Should have been finished 6 weeks ago now.....
