100% CPU usage in Windows Media Player

When playing MP3 files in Windows Media Player, after a while the CPU usage gets to 100% and memory usage increases more and more. I'm using the Fraunhofer codec and the latest Media Player. I've tried ffdshow for movies with MP3 audio, and those play fine. Any suggestions?
