I wanted to update my Acrobat Reader 5.0 (from their site) to 7.0 (latest version) but I wasn't able to because I could only update to 7.0 from 6.0. So I updated to 6.0 and uninstalled 5.0. Acrobat Reader 6.0 didn't work so I uninstalled it and downloaded the full acrobat reader 7.0. It was installing but i stopped it and decided to restore to a previous stage of my computer (system restore). I did but when the system restarted again, it said "Incomplete restore". I did this several times with several dates and got the same result (nothing). So I uninstalled everything from Acrobat Reader (including the manager that comes with it) and tried system restore again and it still didn't work. Now my computer is running slower than it previously was. I don't know what to do and I really don't want to restart my windows again because I have some information on this computer and I don't want to start all over again. I should never have tried to update that program. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks.

it means youll have to wipe your hard disk of all data and put windows on again, a simple job realy and will definalty solve your problem.

Late answer I know, but all XP users might want to know a good way to clean their registry and MAYBE avoid a full system rebuild. This process has never caused me a problem and I run it literally hundreds of times. However, do it at your own risk.

If you are running Windows XP, export your full registry to a safe place then download and install Regcleanr and RegscrubXP. In Regcleanr, click Tools>Registry Cleanup>Do Them All and select all and remove all that is found. In RegscrupXP click Regscub Finds Problems and remove all that's found.

Reboot

Do Regcleanr and RegscrubXP both again

You'll find five or six persistent entries in RegscrubXP...thay can be left alone.

On my son's computer, I found a total of over 300 registry errors caused simply by the process of uninstalling and re-installing Roxio 6. Those errors were slowing him down tremendously. I later did have to rebuild his system, but that was for a totally different reason.
