What files (ie AVI, MPEG, MPG, VIDEO_TS, etc.)? Why would you need to convert if you're using Nero Recode 2? According to my understanding, Nero Recode is a "encoding, transcoding and burning engine" only. However, if you're talking about Nero Vision, then yes.... it does "converting and transcoding" then burn once it's successfully completed the project.

What is/are your extension files? Nero Recode will mostly recognize Video_TS files only. Nero Vision will recognize more files. Here is a pictures of the files that Nero Vision will convert into DVD.

Maybe you may want to try Nero Vision and give it a shot on "Capture Video" and connected your Camcorder's footage via USB into your computer and give it a shot from there. I haven't done "Capture Video", but I'm sure it's not that hard. I've done tons of AVI, MPEG into DVD and so far it's been a success. See picture below for reference, it's the very top, above the one I circle.
