I had previously been able to use DVD shrink and then the system would automatically burn a dvd with Nero with no problem, all in one step. Now I have been failing at any attempt. I even try creating an image first and then try burning it with nero and it still fails.

The only way I have been getting a DVD burned is creating an image in DVD SHRINK and then burning it using Roxio Disc Copier. I know Nero and Roxio don't play nice together, but I had no problems with both software apps on my system before.

I will include two of the error logs below for your review. I see that I have DMA off. I was not able to turn it back on through the control panel/device mgr etc., because I have Intel Application Accelerator 2.3.2.2160 on my PC. I tried removing it through its uninstaller and XP add/remove programs, but the system will not let me. It can't find it. I tried removing the Primary and Secondary controllers, so that windows would reinstall them with DMA on, but it still kept DMA off. I'm using Sony DVD-RW and Sony DVD-R, even though the system is telling me I'm using Ritek with the SONY DVD-RW.

Many times, I have to cancel the burn because I see no increase in percentage of burn completed (1% or 2%). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your Nero is way out of date: Upgrade here: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

Free physical memory: 147MB (151540kB)

You need to free up some system resources as you only have 147mb of Ram available. No multi tasking during the process. Turn off your antivirus, spyware and popup blockers.

Reduce your target size so that you do not burn too close to the edge of the media. 4300 should do it.

Start with these changes. creaky will be back and look it over closely.

@9mmruger1 found me :)

i've picked the 2nd log file

Nero API version: 6.3.0.3
- Nero's too old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.18, download "update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php
Quote:
Recorder: <TDK DVDRW0404N> Version: 1.0A

CdRomPeripheral : TDK DVDRW0404N IdeChnDr Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
- DMA needs to be ON, and you have those annoying 'IdeChnDr' drivers (Intel Application Accelerator or something); if i recall correctly you can only get DMA back ON by getting rid of those drivers. try this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm and install the standard Microsoft drivers when prompted

Thanks for the info 9mmruger1 and Creaky. I have updated the firmware for the DVD Drive to 1C. I'm looking into upgrading to Nero 7 Ultra, but I want to see that I can burn first with the older software. I do wish to remove the Intel Accelerator, but I can't locate the link from the page that you are directing me to: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

Last night, I went into my PC's BIOS setup and changed the info for the DVD burner to Mode 5 but I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Creaky: I looked at all the responses from the thread link you gave me and I can't find how to remove the intel accelerator from Kurtp21's replies. He talks about VIA busmaster, and I don't have those controllers. I tried removing the IDE controller and windows reinstalls them, but I still can't find some way to turn DMA on for my TDK Drive. Any ideas?

No, I still can't uninstall the Intel Accelerator program, but thanks for asking.

I did purchase Nero 7.0 but have not yet installed it yet. I hoping that will help, but I'm not too optimistic, since it will still be the same hardware setup on my pc.
