if your PC doesn't have the balls to un rar something you may wanna check into an upgrade there first. and the best place to get games is don't be cheap, go rent the game at the local video store this way you'll get what your wanting and not waste an hour downloading a file that isn't what it claims to be.
also don't shrink games, their uncompressed for a reason, to load faster, they are slow enough off the CD/DVD drive as it is, just be patient and wait on the burner. use a quality media, don't skimp and get what was on sale at wally world, the cheap stuff wont boot and puts undue strain on the laser.

can you direct me to the post in which i said what you have me quoted as???? i can't make heads or tails outta that quote so I'm sure it wasn't something i typed. while my southern English may strike some folks as 'improper grammar' i at least try my best to spell correctly and in understandable sentences.

the cheep stuff wouldn?t due and puts strain on the laser...but you also said it wouldn?t boot and it is real slow "IF IT Dose".. So I?m gathering that there is in fact a way to burn PS2 games to CD with only a CD and not DVD burner
so please don?t hold back and teach me the ways of which you speak so I can at least have a few games to play until I too can afford a nice DVD Burner upgrade.. thanks
P.S. I have two other post on here recently.. One called ?Simple CD? and the other ?PS2 Swap Magic CD Version 3.6 **PLEASE READ THIS**?
Both under CD back up discussions.. I?m hoping this message s a little more coherent
Thanks for lookn? it over Merry Christmas

compression of games are to put a dual layer game onto a single layer disk, not to put DVD games on CD. the only reason to compress single layer disk games is to have them take up less space on a HDD when played off the HDD. the reason here is that on the HDD the data does not require padding to push it further out on the disk.
as for the 'cheap stuff' the use of inferior media will shorten the life of your laser as it has to work harder to read the data from the disk, the ink used in the stamping process is not as reflective as the ink used in the higher quality disks. that means don't go to your local wal-mart/target/etc store and buy the disks in a 200 pack that are only 30 bucks, they wont work.
as for your quote: ...........until I too can afford a nice DVD Burner upgrade.. thanks
you can buy a top of the line DVD Dual Layer burner for less then 40 bucks, there is no excuse to not buy one now.

I got my Pioneer DVR-110D from newegg.com when they were running the free express shipping, got it shipped to my door in 2 days for 38 and change. i just surfed around to find the best price on what I wanted, you should do the same, I'm not sure you'll find an internal for your laptop that cheap, i use a tower for burning games, i do allot of burning and try to keep the heat down in the unit. my other drive is a DVR-105 and after about 10 disks back to back it gets pretty hot, the DVR-110D doesn't even after 30 but i burn games at 8x (never have any problems doing so either)
for media i use -Rs and i get them from allmediaoutlet.com, Ritek GO5s are great media at a good price. All consoles and DVD players will read a -R, but not all like +R media. some people claim to have better luck with +R but i find that not to be the case with any of the consoles I've modded.

can't help ya on the PS1, I've modded hundreds of them but never used one to play anything but Playstation games.
on the external drive, i didn't have much with a cheap one doing a quick search but the internal Sony DW-Q58A for laptops is 85 bucks.
you should try a little searching of your own ya know.
