Found two sites from reputable merchants where I can purchase Retail San Diego Core 3700+ for under 220 dollars. My question is that I have seen many online reviews, statements, and comments involving AMD 3000-(1.8ghz), 3200+ and 4000+ and how overclockeable they are and how stable these chips are. But I have never read a post where members and enthusiasts claim that the 3700+ "San Diego" Core is very overclockable. I really am interested in purchasing this cpu as I can see that other than the 3000+, it has the best overall value and has 1mb cache. Can any one who has a 3700+ tell me how overclockable this cpu is?

i cant say how overclockable it is but as a general rule the higher up the scale you go the less overclockable the processors tend to be. if you had a 3700 i very much doubt you would find any need to overclock anyway as its a quick little chip @ 2.4Ghz

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
Comp2: AMD Sempron 2400+ OC ~ 2.0GHz (Stable), Asrock K7S41GX, 512MB DDR 333, Onboard Graphics, 40GB Maxtor IDE

set of monitors on the way soon :P
Google is your friend...
WorkComp: LAPTOP, intel celeron D 2.4GHz, 256MB DDR, 20GB hd. NO SCREEN IT WAS SAWN OFF :S (bag of crap)

Its actually 2.2ghz but you are right that it is a quick chip with all its floating point processing. But I did go to anandtech.com and saw where where one of the contributing writers got it upt to 2.85ghz with stock heat sink and fan and up to 3.2ghz with some type of below freezing cooling method. Nice speeds and bench marks. So I am sold on the 3700+ unless the Dual cores will come down in pricing soon.
