can anyone tell me what all the hype is about dvd-r's being more compatible than +r's? I have used both on my dru-500-a and had no problems at all on playback with either. And I use a player that I purchased 6 years ago. I'm talking plain jain! Anyway the +r's burn in half the time than the -r's so I have been sticking with those.Am I missing something because I really haven't heard any good news on the +r's. Thanks

I have found that the +r don't play in some players. I don't know what brand you are using but the -r can be burnt at 4x and the +r are at 2x. So how can you burn +r in half the time?

I also have a sony burner and have used both +r and -r with the exact same results. With sony's latest firmware update you can burn both formats at 4x (15-20minutes for a movie). I use +r more often because for me I seem to be able to get them cheaper and always on sale at my local computer stores and for some reason I find more of a selection of the +r's then -r's wich is supposed to be the more popular format from what I've read on this site. And I have a inexpensive Pioneer DVD standalone player that is 4 years old and it plays everything I've ever burned +r, -r, +rw, -rw, vcd and svcd. Go figure!
