a mod chip (i prefer chips over flip tops w/ swap magic), some quality media and DVD Decrypter for reading DVD based games (CloneCD for CD based reads) and write both DVD and CD with the DVD Decrypter.

What I meant by flip top is my ps2 is the new version. Will dvdfab decrypter work the same? How easy are these mod chips to install? Is there any sodering or what? Will it void the warrenty of my ps2?
Thanks

Here's a link for mod chips: http://www.modchip.com/ps2/. DMS4 Pro/Lite and Matrix Infinity are said to be the best.

Installing a mod chip will void your warranty, and as far as being easy is determined by how good you are with a soldering iron. If you don't have any experience, you might want to have somebody install it for you. Or you could get the solderless mod chip, but I've heard that it is difficult to install as well.
