i use an old model PS2 (3000 series i think) with Swap Magic 2.0 DVD and slide card. I burned a copy of Burnout Revenge (patched DNA$ with ps2nfo image patcher) onto a TDK DVD media. i can discswap the game and it boots up fine, single players plays fine. but when i try to sign online onto the EA nation servers (or whatever its called), i always get hung at the black "Authenticating DNAS" screen. after about 2 minutes, i get an error message (-402) telling me to contact sony. I even reburned the game and patched it with the ORIGINAL DNAS i extracted off the original with a disc id utility. this copy still hangs at the DNAS authentication and still get the 402 error message. Are burned EA PS2 games able to prevent you from playing online, even when you've patched the DNAS info?

From what I read a 402 DNA's error is either a problem with the DVD or a cheating device error. What is the media code on those TDK's? To check the media code open DVD Decryter, insert your disc, and see what it says under Manufacturer ID. Compare it to what you see here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Im fairly certain that error code 402 means that you for example have a PAL ps2 an try to log on using a NTSC game or the other way around.

You might be right.

There is conflicting info on that particular error code.

From: markps2it

The disc id posted in this thread is a fake, the last digit of the disc id can only be 4 or C, just look at the others disc id ....
I'm searchng a lot for a valid disc id , but I can't find it nowere, I hope someone post it :D
By the way... error -864 mean that the disc id is PARTIALLY incorrect, I mean that the last 2 digit are wrong... error code 402 appears when also the region code is wrong (the number 10 of the disc id):10 is Jap , 30 is USA , 40 is PAL, so the region code is correct.
I hope I was useful to someone at least :)

20. Q. What are DNA's?
A. Any game made after 2003 for the PS2 that is online playable contains one or more image files that has a "disk
DNA checker." The online game server checks your game disk to see if it's the real thing or not. Thus, you have to discover which .img file on the game disc has the checker file.

21. Q. How do I patch DNA's?
A. http://www.ps2nfo.com/on-line.html

22. Q. Where can I find DNA ID's?
A. NTSC-US: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/199101C
PAL: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/198137

Yes I have done all of that good stuff.
DNA$ is not accepted.
It is NTSC USA.
I used WinDIP.

How would a 'media code' affect this?

How many people are playing a backup of BURNOUT REVENGE online?
Can you please provide me with the blanks (XX XX __ __ __)?

Thanks all!

(Size = 4,247,124 bytes)
Disc ID = XX XX 02 30 BC

I haven't tried it so i hope it works for you.

There are several people who've backed up EA games and play them online all the time. Media ID contains precorded info about the manufacturer of the DVD. Cheap media can cause games to lag or freeze. You could also try using Winimage to patch the game.

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Yea I have plenty of games on this media. I never checked the Media I.D code... Other DNA$ work fine.

xx xx 02 30 BC does not work because the file size is different:

3.39 GB (3,650,453,504 bytes)

I have seen this before in other games, usually I can find the right code. EX: SW: Battlefront II has two different IDs out there due to two different sizes. Or, maybe this is a REBUILT ISO.

Whatever the deal may be, thank you all for your time. I should have checked the file size like I've done so many times in the past!

Well then you're ignoring an obvious possiblity. If you ignore people's suggestions, why would they want to help you?
