When i burn with Nero Vision Express (NVE)...i usually convert the .avi to .vob (dvd files) with winavi converter and when i burn it with the NVE program it comes out with pixelation :S. IT DOESNT LOOK TO GOOD AT ALL...sometimes it reminds me of watching digital cable when you sometimes experience the pixelation from the rogers cable server lol. if anybody could help me out much thanks and appreciation will be given...:):)
When you say "pixelation" do you mean that the image quality is bad or that the movie skips and freezes?
What's the size of the VOB files you're burning and what media are you using?
well....the cd's im burning on are smartbuy 8x dvd-r's. When i convert the movie from AVI to VOB it makes about 2 to 3 VOB files each about 1 to 1.5 gigabytes and the last one would be around the hundred's in megabytes (ex. 678,000 mb). And what i meant by pixelation like, digital tv! its like...kind of blocky like pixels. I dont know if you can understand it from that but i hope you can. Sometimes the movie's i burn with NVE "lag" throughout the entire movie...what can i do?
The pixelation may indicate that the dvd player does not like the dvd you used.
My player (5 years old panasonic) does not like DVD+R (even though it should).
So do this:
- play the dvd on the PC. If it plays smooth then it's the player. If you see the same pixelation, then it's the burning process.
- if you have the chance, burn one dvd with a media of good quality (plenty of suggestions on this forum. I like Sony's). Check creaky's posts.

I asked the VOB sizes in case you used a compression too high. I reduced few movies by 50% (the "season" DVD, for example) and the loss of quality was barely noticeable. In your case it looks like the DVD is full so you have ~4.5GB of data which should be plenty for any movie.
If you determine that the DVD plays badly even in the burner, then you have to post a logfile so we can think of the root cause.
Best of luck
@leemy, I have never found it necessary to convert AVI files, I have just used NeroVision to burn. Check out Alkohols guide in my sig, an excellent piece of work.
@Alkohol, I'm working hard on these Newbies to get it right!!
