Background: A friend and I have just started to place the odd song with an internet databank (Streamloader), so we can download & discuss the merits thereof of a particular song; when I downloaded his (1st) song it was automatically downloaded as a = Type of file: NeroMediaPlayer media file (.m4a). I have all my music filed away as = MP3 Format Sound and attached to Windows Media Player.

I can play the song through Nero & Windows Media Player as I have altered the Properties so that the song opens with WMP; but instead of the song being listed in the "My Music file" under "All Music" it is listed separately under "Other Media".

Here in lie the problems:

1) How did Nero become my default for the downloaded song?
2) How can I change this? and
3) How can I change the Type of File for the song from NeroMediaPlayer to MP3 Sound.

As I am still a Newbie and learning things, please forgive me for my ignorance/stupidity.
