Hi, first off I am new here and love the info put forth in these forums. You guys rock. Here is my issue. I have a Sony DW-D26A and have loved it (notice past tense). Up until 2 weeks ago it burned everything I threw at it (cd's & DVD's), then it all came crumbling down. The firmware version is JYS3 and I burn using Nero 6.6. Now when writting the lead-in and lead-out on 2 different types of media it rattles and sounds like crap. It hadn't affected the burning process until the other day when it took 20 minutes just to write the lead-out and then Nero errored out. After looking at the disc there are scuffs all along the outer rim as though it was in contact w/ something while at a high rpm. Is the drive dead? If not what can be done to save it? Thanks. By the way the discs are imation DL +R's and verbatim +R's.
