When I upgraded my firmware I get a message saying that I must agree to send data about my psp to sony for something about copy protection/account blocking and a load of other stuff.

Obviously this means that when I go online to enable wma in 2.60 (which I haven't done yet - I have no wireless router) that certain details about my psp will be passed onto sony.

I was wondering what they might do with this data, especially as it mentioned something about account blocking.
What are the chances that it could detect that you have run some kind of programs that sony will not aprove of such as the firmware downgrade or illegal backups?

What if sony have a way to disable the psp if such illegal things are detected, and what exactly is the transmitted info used for?

It's all very suspicious to me - I don't trust sony after that stuff with the music cd's installing programs on pc's!

I don't know what it does... thats what I am asking.
All I know is that some information is sent to sony which they say may be used for various purposes.

More specifically, it says....... 'may retrieve information about a users hardware and software for authentication, copy protection, account blocking, sysyem, rules or game management and other purposes'
