All the newer Games (ok the better half of 'em), will require you to have Firmware v2.0 (or higher) installed. As you may have guessed GTA:LCS, SOCOM, Crash Team Raceing are some of the v2.0 **ONLY** Games at the moment. Although it would appear at ~first~ that Games like GitS:SAC, LotR Tactics and Persuit Force are also v2.0. You can easaly use a Firmware Changer (i.e. WAB or SXT), to bypass the Nagscreen(s), and actually be able to play those game just fine on a v1.50.
At the moment there is no Game that I've heard of that requires one to install a Firmware that's higher then v2.0. So unless you have good reasion to, I wouldn't go past v2.0 just yet.
That said however, I see the next wave of Games ~Q1 (i.e. Spring), 2006~ with mandatory v2.50 \ v3.00 updates. If that should be so I don't think Homebrew (as we know it!),. Is going to hang on much longer. Which is a shame. Consdering what Homebrew Authors are capbable of! Just look at Calisto V0.1 ~Side Scrolling Old School Shoter!~
Makes me regret I picked up GTA! But, what 'cha going to do when you see it on sale for ?39.00(EUR), and all the other ~closer~ Shops what ?59.00(EUR), for it?!?!
Besides I heard theres currently a WIP for a GSH to lauch Homebrew from GTA. The Catch-22 beeing that you need to have GTA first! So i broke down and got it.
Basicly it's GTA³ all over again! Woopee-doo I just wish those Shops would get freking Falcoms' "Legend Of Heroes" back in stock! That fanchice ruled on the PC Engine (a.k.a Turbo Duo), and I Dieing to get my hands on that one!!
