I dont know if I should do homebrew or just buy the game cause theres a lot more features if you upgrade and where i live(canada)
1gbmemory sticks are $120.
So which shouild i do?

was v1.5 (got stolen)new ceramic white 2.6---> downgraded to 1.5 :D

well that won't last for long

in 2006 sony will start making games that cannot be modified and must have a psp with 2.60 firmware or better so my recommendation is upgrade now they are already seeing several titles injapan with the system 2.60 update and hackers that have tried to modifie the boot structer to boot illegally have run into freez outs and worse

so just buy the games the homebrew scene isn't worth it i have tried several pieces of home brew and on every piece you have to have 2 data ebbots in the game directory one is corrupted and one boots the game and if you delete the coruppted data the game doesn't boot

Yeah, johnodd speaks truth, by feb/march (or even earlier) next year, all the games will be fw 2.01+ dependant, ofcourse they may eventually crack it, the hacker s that be, but it's going to take a long time, i don't pirate games personally, i use my memstick cause i can't stand waiting a minute for Midnight club 3 to load a level off the umd, when it loads off the mem stick in 10 seconds, and i don't want to carry umds around, but on the other hand i don't want the psp to suffer to extensivley rom those that do pirate games, i love this thing, and i wqant it to have a long and preoperous life, peeps always laugh when i mention this, but look how many peeps are pirating games and d/ling iso's off the net, all of that is lost money to sony's game dept, and no wonder it's slipping into the red, hardware is expected to be in the red, but not s/ware, that be how they get their money back.

Wow, i just looked back on that, and didn't use one fullstop lol... But then i'm not here to write essays lol, i'm here to write what i'm thinking... :D

so pbailey (the legend) would you recomend that i (2.01) should upgrade to a 2.60? i want to because of the features, but i also want homebrews but thenagen they are illegal and arent as good as the real thing. So what do you recommend?

Hey bro, you're going to make me blush with your appraisals, i'm not worthy.. lolz. don't get me wrong, iso's kick arse lol, but in your case i'm really not sure, the point about them prolly going to do 2.5/2.6 does hold credence, i didn't think so until you actually said you can easily upgrade to it, so that makes me think even more they'll do 2.5/2.6 next. Soz, that's not very clear lol cause i've been drinkin, but we have to find out just how much different the 2.01 and 2.5 encryption is... if 2.01 is easier and they crack that first, then you'll be kicking yourself on upgrading. I personally wouldn't upgrade until it's confirmed that 2.5/2.6 has been broken and downgradable just incase, besides wma ( i don't use them so i'm not fussed, my 40 gig music collection is all ripped into mp3's) and tv anywhere, do you need to upgrade? They're the only things you're missing out on at the mo i think...

Have you thought about trying what others here have done and tried to exchange it instore for a 2.0? If there's any left that is.. If you have a friend that works in retail that sells them, you may be able to pull a swifty, lolz, not that i endorse those sorts of things, hehe :shiftyeyes:
