AMD Athlon 64 3200+ / 512KB Cache Processor Question

I am planning on purchasing the above and I am wondering what the 512KB Cache mean? What does this do? Is this a good thing? I have been using this site a lot lately and I want to thank everyone who has been so helpful. I hope to return the favors after I "turn the corner".

hello putray I do believe it means the higher the cache the quicker it is able to access stuff so if you a 1gb of cache than it will access stuff pretty dang quick. I do believe that is what it means. The higher the CPU cache the better. 2MB is the most L2 cache your CPU can have, no such thing as 1Gb L2 cache. That AMD Athlon 64 3200+ with 512KB cache is a very nice CPU.

ooops I did a typo i meant 1MBx2 cache anywayz yes that cpu with 512kb cache is a nice cpu I have one myself
