I'm using a 1633S crossflashed to 1653S @ CSOR. I defrag before burning, use DVD Decrypter to rip in ISO Mode and ImgBurn to write at 2.4x. I do not mulit-task while ripping or burning. When I started using this media I consistantly got quality scores greater than 90, however after successflly backing-up about 10 of my movies, I have been getting quality scores of 70, 77, and (most often) 84.
I've attached some scans (both using the same drive) of a back-up. One @ 2x and one @ 4x.
What am I doing wrong? Is my burner going bad after only 20 burns? Do I need a different firmware? What is "reset learned media?"...could this help me? Thanks in advance for all input.

Your problem appears to be right at the layer break. What scores do you get with non-dual-layer media ??
I see a thread over at cd freaks that says Nero isn't very good about burning at the layer break... Are you using Nero and if so, what version ?? I also see suggestions to make sure you set the booktype to DVD-ROM. LiteOn has a utility that will do this or newer versions of Nero will do it also. That may only relate to issues playing it back on your DVD player, which you don't suggest is going on.
Finally, if you use Omnipatcher to tweak the firmware before applying it, see if it has an option for anything related to dual-layer or layer break. I had bad luck with one of the agressive speed settings in the past too. There's one that increases the speed to "full" faster than LiteOn does by default. That may be completely unrelated unless it tries to speed up, then corrects itself.
@ns720 hi :)
i'm a burn and play person (don't hold to much stock with scan results)the greatest test of all
regardless of the scan does it play fine? if it does then there can't be a lot wrong with what and how you are doing it
