Okay, I have already read the numerous guides provided here, and I have read other peoples threads where they are having this same problem but I simply cannot fix the problem or find an answer on how to even go about doing so.

Free converters are the only option. I am using Videora, I follow the instructions, and everything, but my audio and video are still out of sync. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Like tweaking some settings or something?

I am not doing DVDs at the moment, just trying to convert a short video file for my iPod to test out before I do a DVD.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry bud, but thus far, we haven't found a solution to the audio lag that some people get. All I can suggest is that you try another program. :(

Well thanks for atleast replying, lol, I am gonna tweak with some stuff and see what I can get, if I figure something out that works for me, it may work for others. If I find anything, I will post my findings.

Excellent.

If you do manage to tweak it and resolve the problem, then please remember/record all of the adjustments you made. Thanks

okay, I got it to sync (the short answer right now is to set framerate to "29.97" instead of "Input", but I am still not really comfortable with what exactly Videora is doing and how all the settings affect it, so a more detailed answer should follow.

Ok, I'll be watching this space :-)

I'm currently tweaking with settings on videora. Although I don't get any audio lag, I may aswell se what I can come up with :-)

Hmmmm, well I thought I solved the problem, but after multiple tests with various files I have found that some work with Default settings just fine, some only sync when the fps is manually set to 29.97 and some won't convert at all. More work is ahead of me I think.

Just out of curiosity, what profile settings are you using with Videora?

Update:

I realized that most of my files were .wmv, those would go through the converter fine, and I can put them on my iPod, but some settings would not affect the file, like cropping, and I had audio/video syncing issues on some but not all these files.

So then I chose a .AVI file, it didn't work AT ALL. It would just say Complete right away and no file would be in the folder.

I chose another .AVI file, it worked, but again, some settings would not affect the file. No audio/video sync issues.

With .mpg I had the best results, all the settings worked like they should, I could crop, and I also had no audio/video sync issues.

I don't know how much this helps, but it might be of some value to someone who knows a little more and might be able to tell whats going on.

Any ideas?

Another Update:

I ripped the Pixar short, "For the Birds" from my Monsters Inc. DVD with DVD Decryptor and converted it with Videora and I had no audio/video sync problems and it worked perfectly. So I think there isn't as big of an issue with .vob files.

However, .wmv and .avi continue to give me problems, but .mpg seems to work fine, though I have only tested 2 files.

If I find anything more, I'll be sure to let you all know.

Also note, the Videora Converter forums have some reccomendations for working around the audio/video sync issues until they can stabalize the build a little more. So that may be a good place to look if you continue to have sync issues.

Damn, everyone seems to be fine with the mpeg but not with the other file types. Tried converting them to mpeg with a proggy like winavi and then converted them to iPod format~?

Just a suggestion. I mean, I would help you out, but I don't get any audio lag issues so I won't be able to spot any advances.

Keep at it man :)
