Can you use Action Replay Max on Backups with a modchip?

Title.

I've seached the forums and could only find information relating to swap magic. Has anyone has success with using a modchip? If so what chip was it?

Yeah a modchip should boot a backup of ARMAX fine. You'd use it just like an original copy, assuming you don't don't have to reset the PS2 to boot your backups. What kind of chip do you have?

The Modchip I have?, um I have no idea, went to this shop to install it, and they said they install either a matrix chip or duo chip depending on what version I have, so afterwards when they modded they told me they used a matrix chip.

Then on this sheet they gave me which explains what to do they say for "Martix infinity se", which I've read is a clonie =(, but the thing is I don't get the matrix logo at the bottom of the ps2 screen like other people have, and I can't access the manager by pressing square. So I really don't know!!!!!!!! I'm scared of opening the ps2 up and damaging something.

But I don't have to reset the console to play backups, just pop in and play (however some of the time I get the red screen, and just reset and it works fine) but have to reset to play dvd's.

There are a lot of Matrix Infinity clones. Does it say Matrix or anything like that when you turn on your PS2? I get the rsod (red screen of death) on occasion with my Matrix Infinity. My mod guy says that he get's that occasionally with almost every PS2 he works on, it's just a minor defect of having a modchip. Why don't you simply download ARMAX and burn it to disk, and see if it works? It shouldn't be hard to find:

It doesn't say Matrix or anything when I turn on the Ps2. And I can't access manager by pressing square, or turn it off by pressing start, which I've read are functions of the Matrix.

But yeah, I'll download ARMax and see if it works!. Thanks heaps Tokijin!

hello.
you can use ar max on backups with a modded ps2.
however, you have to use DVD+R and then change the booktype to dvd-rom.
otherwise, it wont run at all. (um... this is based on my experience)
i also have a modded ps2 and im not sure if the modchip installed is a matrix (it says infinity 1.38 on bootup) but after doing the above steps i was able to run backups on ar max.
also many thanks to tokijin and others who responded to my posts before!

The DVD+R thing is because of your version PS2. Newer PS2's should play DVD+R's or DVD-R's fine. If it'll play DVD+R's fine, stick with those. Otherwise go with DVD-R's. Glad to hear you got it working. You should update your Matrix firmware. The newest release is v.1.75.
