WD external 250BG hd problem

hey folks happy holidays

I just bought the above HD, I was ripping a film with decrypter and even before i started i got this msg

Drive G:/ (FAT32) does not support single files >4GB

anything below 4BG turns out fine as an .ISO... but anything above 4 turns into a .IOO file and i dont know how to deal with this type of a file


does anyone know a way around this/solution so as i can burn it as .ISO

Why did you format it as FAT32??? It should be NTFS. FAT32 is an older file system. Don't know if thats the cause of your problem, but I'd reformat it to NTFS anyways to see if the problem goes away and NTFS is a more efficient and recent file system, so its all good both ways.

You can convert your FAT32 to NTFS on next boot by going to the command prompt and typing:

C:\>CONVERT X: /fs:ntfs


(replace the X with the drive letter being converted)


and yes, you are correct...FAT32 has a 4Gig file size limit, and that is the root of the issue!

Another way to format the drive is to right click on MY COMPUTER, Click on MANAGE. In the left Window , under Computer Management. There are 3 categories or groupings. System Tools , Storage and Services and Apps. Expand Storage ,Click on Disk Management. You can right click on your drive and choose to FORMAT it here.
