Help with Wi-Fi (Ad Hoc) Games

Hi, I have two PSP Games right now, When I looked on the back and it said Wi-Fi Compatible, I thought that meant that the Games where Online, like Mario Kart DS. But when I went to Multiplayer, there was no one on it, no games created. Well I did some researching, and from what I have heard, Ad Hoc is only for PSP contacting another PSP. So I was wondering, what does this type of Multiplayer have to do with Wi-Fi? Is there any Online Capiblities? Can I play anyone over the Network? Lol, I am oviously very confused, can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

Well what other way would the two PSP's communicate to each other??
The wifi can be used to play multiplayer with other psp users in the same location, access the internet through a router and at the moment I don't know about online gaming.
