There was someone who said they tried to downgrade a 2.5 to 1.5 like this:

Put the 1.5 psp firmware update on a memory stick and a 2.6 update on a nother. Start the 2.6 update. At the agreements, switch memory sticks. It should go to 99% like the 2.0 to 1.5 downgrade then continue like the 2.0 to 1.5 downgrade.

I need a newer firmware to try it because they said 2.5 and 2.6 have the same security system. Basically, Is there a new firmware coming out soon?

It's firmware. This is files written onto the PSP internal memory that tell it what to do.

I've not seen anything on the Sony PsP site saying anything about a new firmware version but if that method works and Sony finds out then there will be a new with as soon as it's confirmed to work.

I think the last thing anyone here wants to see, is S0NY® releaseing yet another lame Firmware release! Although that in and of itself wouldn't be such a bad thing. Especially if a new Exploite could be found!!
