2006 is coming near and technology of are tvs in my house is analog, so what does happen in 2006?/ also i do watch locals channels so I have no digtal cable or anything...do i have to throw my old tvs now?? someone clear me up...THANKS

The short...
Your analog tvs will be fine. All! HD receivers work with analog tvs. Why? Because they all have composite and S-Video outputs that are primarily there to connect to VCRs and analog TVs.
Also, the standard def, digital to analog, (DAC) converting set top boxes will be provided by the government!
What will happen in 2007, nothing. All broadcasters (local channel providers) are required to broadcast a digital signal by the beginning of 2007. Now, "capital hill" is still trying to decide what they want to do as far as the cut off date for the analog broadcasting system and how much money they want to spend on the set-top boxes. The proposed date is going to be sometime in the first quarter of 2009!
Remmember, All of this only affects over-the-air trasmittions. Cable and Satallight (or DBS) won't be changed. Except that the cable company "must" also carry the digital local channels for free just like the analog local channels are now.

Well I'm curious about the rumors that Congressed pass a bill about 5 months ago, stating that All channel were going to be in HD and the dead line was 2008 and the companies that didn't provide an HD prodcasting signa. Analog I take it that ITS screwed or not
