ok guys, so i was in Costco tonight and saw a 42" Maxent HD-Ready Plasma TV for $1800, and am on the ropes.... first off, i dont know much about this generation of televisions, i still have a trinitron with an s-video input as my viewing source.... I am a big time gamer (have a ps2, gamecube and xbox, and getting a 360 soon), and want to bump up the quality over what i currently own... whats the difference between HD and HD-Ready? here's the link:

I would appreciate some advice guys... thanks

Either Way you do not want the Maxent it is an off brand that I have sold before and I have seen them all come back with some type of problem where it from dead pixel with in 30 days of purchase and discolor ration as if the whole screen was covered in green. if you wanted to get into a HD television there are few things you need to do in oreder to get that amazing picture. First you have to have the Hd service from you cable or Sat, then you need a new Dvd player called an up-converstion player. If you don't do these two things your picture will look really fuzy and grainy, you said you play games well on a television like maxent you'll have trouble with burn in because you're playing a on a plasma that uses gases and if they "the gase" hold that position over a long exstent it will burn in you can burn it out but it depletes your tv' life span. So what you need to do is look into a Samsung DLP or even a Toshiba DLP they look amazing for games. NO BURN the lamp goes out but aht is nothing to really worry about. The price range for a 42 is 1599-2000 depending on where you go. Sorry if this is alot but thought you should know.
