PLEASE HELP THIS POOR GIRL! I have a FlipTop for the big PS2 not the slim and I have the PS2 V.9. How do you use SWAP MAGIC 3.6? WHAT IS SPECIAL BOOT AND NORMAL BOOT? AND THE DIFFERENCE? The games I copied (DDR MAX and Street Fighter Anniversary collection) does not work. Probably it's either because I used TDK DVD+R or maybe I used the swap magic wrong?? When I copy my game, I used DVD Decyrpter then burned it as a image with Nero but when I try to play it, it doesn't work. So what am I doing wrong? Please help me =[ I just got my Swap Magic 3.6 this morning and the FlipTop a week ago and I really want to use my Swap Magic 3.6!!!
And I am sorry if these questions are already repeated, I just wanted to ask because some of the questions in the threads didnt get the answers to the main questions.
Please Help This Poor Noob...

Try using DVD-R's, Big Fat ps2's have trouble reading DVD+R's, and burn the games at 2.4x speed to 4x speed

I have a US version 9 with Flip Top and Swap Magic 3.6 Plus and so far every games I backup has been playing flawlessly. Out of curiosity, those games you mentioned, they're not over 4.5GB right? Make sure your dvd burner's firmware is up-to-date with the most current version, to check on your burner's firmware go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and use only high quality media like genuine Taiyo Yuden, Maxell (High Grade by Hitachi, made in japan).
Here's how to rip any PS2 games using DVD Decrypter:
Once it's completed, if the game is anywhere 4.5GB or under, then you can simply just burn it right onto a single layer 4.7GB DVD+R or DVD-R media using DVD Decrypter:
- Mode, ISO, Write
- now browse to your hard drive look for your file and choose the MDS file
- make your burning speed to 4X only
- and click on Write (that's it... sit tight until it's completed.)
However, if the game you're trying to backup is too big ie over 4.5GB, then you need to rebuild it into a DVD5, so it'll fit perfectly onto a 4.7GB DVD-R or DVD+R disc. Go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/275350 for more info.

Yes thank you but the games I copied are not that big and I know how to decypt the games but I just saw somewhere on the forums that PS2 V.9 can not play DVD+R?? Is that true? Oh yeah and another thing I didn't get my other questions answered, What is a Special Boot and a Normal Boot and what is the difference??

to be honest, u need not to worry bout the difference. always
use normal boot. if that doesn't work (which is really really rare)
then use special boot.

Some PS2's cannot read DVD+R format.. but there is a way around that if your burner is just a + format burner (or if you have a large amount of +r's lying around and don't want to buy some -r's ) it's called bitsetting AKA Booktype

Booktyping burns your DVD+R as a DVD-ROM so your PS2 or DVD Player thinks that a DVD-ROM has been inserted into your PS2 or DVD Player even though it is a DVD+R

I don't know who told you that version 9 PS2 "can not" play DVD+R. Whoever told you must not have a very good of knowledge. Again, I have the US version 9 PS2 console and every PS2 backups I burned play flawlessly. Additionally, I'm a DVD+R person, and yes... I book typed nearly 95% of all my backups, even the ones I didn't book typed to DVD-ROM still plays/loads smoothly.
According to my knowledge, any PS2 consoles from v 4 -> current should be able to play both DVD-R and DVD+R easily. However, it's wise to "book type" when using DVD+R into "DVD-ROM" that's the best format ever on the planet. A good rule of thumb is to always use high quality media like genuine Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo/datalife plus" and Maxell (High Grade by Hitachi Corp., made in Japan).
**NOTE: make sure to keep your burning speed to 4X and you'll be fine.

hmm for some reason it doesn't work even if I do the Booktype thing that you guys sugested, I burned it twice with 2 different programs Nero Burning Rom and the DVD Decrypter one and the game still don't work...
First I put in the swap magic 3.6 then press 'X' Normal Boot Load Program and then when I see the same screen again I put in the copied game and I press 'X' again and then it shows the screen with my memory cards and then it says put in a Playstaion or Playstation 2 disc. If I try the Special Boot I press the 'Square' button and then it shows invalid disc or something like that.
So now what do I do? Should I buy DVD-R's and try with that or was there something wrong I did or what? but then alkohol says his ps2 v9 like mine can play DVD+R
Please Help This Poor Noob...

Boot Swap magic when you get to the load screen swap out the Swap magic discs for the Backup BEFORE you press X then once you have swaped out the discs then press X no need to press X twice
if it's going to the Memory card screen it sounds like it's having a hard time reading the disc our you need to do the laser adjustment

Here's the steps to boot your PS2 backups using SWAP MAGIC.
(1) power up your PS2 console (and wait until you see the PLaystation logo)
(2) press Eject, now load/insert your Swap Magic dics on the tray, then close it
(3) wait until you get to the "Swap Magic Disc" loading/booting Menu (ie Boot, special boot, Mode, etc.)
(4) now open up your Flip Top cover "from the top cover" and take out your Swap Magic Disc from the Flip Top.
(5) put your PS2 backup in nicely (make sure it sits properly) from the Flip Top
(6) now closed Flip Top cover and press [X] to boot. That's it... easy as smokin'.

Omg thank you so much everyone, so the problem was that I used the Swap Magic wrong! and DVD+R works!! Swap Magic should have better instructions.. and again thank you everyone =]
