with all the new games requiring 2.5 or higher, will us iso back up users ever have a chance? nobody's been able to hack 2.5 or higher yet, so are we going to be forced to update to play the latest games?

Yes you will be forced to update to play the latest games.
It is only a matter of time before the new versions are hacked.

Once they are hacked then a newer version will come out and the waiting starts again.
So to play the latest games you are going to need patience or the original umd.
