I can't get a good quality score on any of the burns I do. I have flashed my DVD burner with the latest firmware and burn to quality media - Maxell High Grade DVD+R 8x (made in Japan). Here is the last burn I tried.
I recently took this same disc to a friend and had him scan it and the quality score was a 95 on his computer using the same program. Does this mean that my DVD burner is not reading discs correctly, Or does this just mean that my burner doesn't like the Nero CD/DVD Speed program? All discs that I scan on my computer generally score 0 - 30 on the quality score.
This program doesn't work for me either all mine will scan the same no matter what internal burner I use, also on my Lite-on DVD-Rom drive. If I use my Plextor 716 external and PlexTools all mine will come up excellent. I tried on both my Dell's and no dice on the proggy.
I burned at 4x. I also have a Dell. Is this a Dell thing or is it an issue with my burner? When you say you scannned with your plex, was that a program that comes with the plextor drives? I just bought a Plextor 740a this morning.
I am beginning to think it is a Dell thing, considering I have two Dells, my son one, and best friend one and none of us can scan. As for the PlexTools that does not come with the 740A Plex, because that drive is not a true Plextor but a rebadged BenQ1640, still a very good drive. Just got one of these myself for Christmas. If you plan to booktype with the 740A you can do it through Nero, otherwise I advise dl DVD InfoPro which will let you do it under BenQ drives only. Tried using the BenQ utility but because it is made for Plextor it will not let me do it I would have to crossflash it to a true 1640.
Thanks for the info. I bought the plextor because I couldn't find the BenQ 1640 in any stores. I think I had to pay an extra $15 bucks just because it said "Plextor" on the front. Oh well, its supposed to be a good drive and it was still only $59.
Nero CD-DVD Speed loves my DRU710A (which is a rebadged Lite-On) awesomely. I think my DRU's scanning with Nero CD-DVD Speed is more precise since it's using C1, unlike when I scanned with DVDInfo Pro, which is C8 or something.
