Hi
Can anyone tell me how much space subtitles take up on a dvd and how do I remove them?
My problem is that I have a movie with a running time of 105 minutes I have used ifoedit and stripped everything I can but at the end of it I am still left with a movie that is 5.2GB.
Am I wrong in thinking that a movie with this running time should easily be brought down to fit on a single dvd-r.

No, not necessarily. DVD mpeg2 uses variable bit rate to encode. Some movies are just larger when encoded. Subtitles do not use much space. Once you rip all the unnecessary audio and subtitles and it's still too large for a dvd-r, it's time to either re-encode the video stream (but why degrade the quality?) or split it into 2 dvd-r or 1 dual side dvd-r. There's no other way.
