I have read the thread, but is this not a design fault or a bad batch? Can't believe Sony could ship out such shite sound. Anyone else have a solution other than opening the damn thing up and adding a booster to what has already been an expensive and so far dissapointing bit of kit?

If you have some desoldering Braid and a Soldering Iron you can gently twist off the Greay Covers on your Earbuds. ~They are not Glued into place!~,. Then useing to Desodering Braid and Iron Remove the SMD Resistor from the Earbud(s). Reattach any exposed Wire back to the Earbud(s), Then replace the Cover(s) and enjoy!

Otherwise get another Pair of 'Buds that are not caped at 90dB, such as those that S0NY® packed in with the PSP?!!

Thanks for the tip. It has improved alot. Still very lame of Sony to ship out something with such a high sound inhibitor.
